NewMoon’s Puppy Process

**Please read the below information AND our “Is A Shiloh Right For Me” page before proceeding to our puppy application.**
First and foremost, we do not wish to end contact with our puppies when they go home. We vow to be there for our puppies throughout their lives and will always be a phone call away. We want our puppy families to feel like just that, family. And wish to maintain contact throughout your puppies life (and possibly beyond!).
To be considered for a NewMoon Shiloh puppy, you first must fill out a puppy application in full. We will then contact prospective owners and see if it is a good fit for both parties. We are more than happy to point you in the right direction if we don’t have what you are looking for.
After application is complete and contact is made, potential owners will be placed on the list for upcoming litters if room is available. No puppies will be gaurenteed until the litter is born. Once puppies are born we will contact people on our list and send out contracts to look over, at which time a refundable deposit of $500 (payment method to be determined individually) must be placed to solidify your spot for a puppy. We understand that life happens and plans can often come unraveled so we never wish to make you feel trapped with your decision to place a deposit on a puppy. The rest of the puppy payment amount will be due at or the week before pickup pending payment method. If for any reason you are unable to complete your plan to get a puppy from said litter, your deposit can be transferred to another litter under breeders discretion. Please note we are a small breeding program, so we don’t typically have litters on a consistent basis.
At 6-7 weeks old, puppies will be placed through LER testing (a puppy evaluation process). At that time decisions will be made by Amanda as to which puppy is going to what family. This is a hard wait for new puppy owners, however the process is highly beneficial. You will be matched with the best possible puppy for your specific needs.
We will post weekly photos to our facebook page as well as impromptu photos of the litter as they grow. Puppies will go through Puppy Culture, be socialized and desensitized to multiple stimuli, and begin crate/potty training before going to their new homes at 8 weeks. Puppies will also come with first shots, microchip, health certificate and deworming records.
Before puppies head home (and after family selections are made) we require owners to attend a virtual “Puppy Send Home” meeting before picking up their puppies. In this meeting we cover various topics to set you up for success with your puppies! We try to be as thorough as possible to help your experience of bringing a puppy home as easy as possible.
We require all new puppy owners to pick up their puppy at our home in Northeast PA.
We highly suggest people immediately put their puppies in training classes and continue to work with their puppies through adolescence into adulthood. Additionally around 5-12 months we require every family to holter test their puppy. More information here on holter testing. It is a simple 24 hour test where your puppy must wear a monitor. We have our own equipment we send out with highly detailed instructions to make the process as simple as possible!
If you have any further questions about the puppy process feel free to give us a call or send us an email!
